Trick Or Treat Festivities At Gulf Gate

Halloween is almost here and the kids are getting excited! To help everyone be good neighbors this holiday we have a few guidelines for Trick-or-Treating at Gulf Gate. Watch for a paper notice being delivered to your apartment about Trick-or-Treaters.

The notice will have a cut-out picture that you can cut out (or print the photo on this post) and post on your apartment door if you wish to welcome Trick-or-Treaters. If your children will be joining in the festivities, please instruct them to visit only those neighbors who have posted the welcome message, and kindly respect the privacy of those who elect not to. Please make sure to have safe treats to give out. That includes anything boxed or sealed.

Trick-or-Treaters may come to the Rental Office between 3PM - 6PM on Halloween to pick up a special treat from the staff!

Have a frightfully wonderful Halloween!

Gulf Gate Barbecue Provides Plenty of A"moo"sment

We recently had our annual Resident Appreciation Barbecue  and there was plenty of a-moo-sment this year with our 'cow party' theme! We had a blast visiting with our residents and were so glad you stopped by to talk and had a bite to eat. This year's party, following the theme, featured hamburgers and a build-your-own ice cream sundae bar. Having a party like this is just one of the ways that we try to let you know that we appreciate you choosing to live at Gulf Gate.

We snapped a few photos at the party, check them out below:

Gulf Gate staff all ready to help you with the sundae bar!

So many toppings - everyone was faced with some important choices.

And just about ever topping you could want for your burger.

Cow balloon and table coverings!

How to pick a great Pumpkin
1. Make sure it is visually appealing, evenly a deep orange. The shape is just whatever appeals to you. If it grew on its side and has a flat spot, you can either make that the make or use it as part of your design!
2. The pumpkin is free from cuts, soft spots, bruises. The flesh should feel hard, and not give easily.
Infections can invade easily and cause rot.
3. Make sure the stem is attached.

What to do with all those seeds?
Toasted Pumpkin seeds
1 ½ cups raw whole pumpkin seeds
2 teaspoons butter, melter
Pinch of Salt
Directions: Preheat oven to 300 degrees. While oven is heating put seeds in bowl with melted butter and salt. Coat seeds thoroughly and spread in a single layer on cookie sheet. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown stirring occasionally. Remove from oven and let cool. Enjoy!

It's Fire Prevention Day Today! Plus Other Important Days In October

October 9-Fire Prevention Day
Fire prevention efforts were sparked by the Great Chicago fire in1871. Take time today to re-evaluate your fire prevention measures and practice a home fire drill. Do you and your family have a plan on what to do if there is a fire in your home? If you don’t have a plan, today is a perfect day to make one!

October 11- Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day
Yes! It’s an excuse to feel like a kid, even for just a moment.

October 16- Boss’ Day
Celebrate your boss today! Let them know how much you appreciate them.

October 20-Sweetest Day
Originally founded by Herbert Birch Kingston in 1922. Herbert wanted to bring happiness to orphans and under-privileged children and began this holiday by giving them small gifts and candy. Today, this holiday is celebrated almost as a second Valentine’s Day by acts of giving flowers and candy to loved ones. However, in addition to showing your love to people close to you, use this day as Herbert intended and show kindness to those in need.

October 31- Halloween
Trick or Treat! That’s right; it’s that time of year where little ghosts and goblins roam the neighborhood seeking sweet treats. Some local businesses have indoor trick or treating available; check your local listings to see if there are any in your area. Have a safe and happy Halloween!
