Registering To Vote Just Got Easier!

Election Day, November 6th, is only 41 days away, are you registered to vote?

If you need to register to vote or need to update your voter information, worry not! For your convenience an official from Sarasota County will be visiting Gulf Gate to help you with these matters. Come down to Gulf Gate's Clubhouse on Saturday, September 29, between Noon to 3:00PM, to meet with the Sarasota County official, who will help you with all of the necessary paperwork. When Election Day rolls around you'll be all set to vote!

The 22nd Annual Sarasota Blues Festival begins in just four days at the Smith Stadium Complex, Field 1. Gates open at 11:00AM and performances will start at Noon, with Delbert McClinton headlining. Tickets are $22 in advance and $27 at the gate. Admission for children under 18 is free if accompanied by a paying adult. New Stars, Old Stars, Plenty Of Fun This Weekend

Are you looking for something fun to do this weekend? This weekend's fun all falls under the theme of "stars"!

First, discover new stars by attending the preliminary rounds of Sarasota's own version of "You've Got Talent". All talent ranges welcome, featuring youth, teen, adults, and groups of any size or age. You can pick up your applications at the Julie Rohr Academy, 4466 Fruitville Road. Application fees are $24 for individuals and $50 for groups. The preliminaries are Saturday from 9:00 AM. - 5:00 PM at Plymouth harbor, 700 John Ringling Blvd, Sarasota.  Or how about a more laid back event where you can get to know some old stars with Sidewalk Astronomy? Telescopes will be up and available for public viewing from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM, courtesy of the local group, Deep Sky Observers. This event will be held on 5801 Marina Drive, just north of the Holmes Beach City Hall on Anna Maria Island.

Recently our painter, Agustin, made our laundry rooms a little more lively with a new paint job. One is orange, the other green! We think Agustin does a great job keeping Gulf Gate beautiful. Hopefully the next time you do laundry you'll enjoy the bright, cheery colors!

Gulf Gate Resident And Employee Celebrates Birthday

We have greatly enjoyed having Helen as a resident at Gulf Gate for 3 years, and more recently as a loyal employee for over a year! Helen said she had a "wonderful" time on her birthday, she "ate LOTS of pancakes!" She thanks everyone for her birthday wishes. Helen, All of us at Gulf Gate wish you the best year yet. Resident Highlight: Meet Tanya!

Tanya has lived here at Gulf Gate Apartements since May 2007. Born and raised in Hollywood, California, she attended the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles before moving to New York City. Her first film, an animated short called "Gulliver Comes to Lilliput," won first place in a national magazine's 1985 film competition. Her second film also won first place in another competition. She moved to Sarasota in 2000 and has since been writing children's books which she hopes will inspire young children to be creative and provide them with a positive message. In addition she makes jewelry at a local jewelry store.

Congratulations to Lee, he is the winner of our Early Bird Drawing this month! Lee has been a resident at Gulf Gate for five years and we enjoy having him here! We do this drawing every month and you have a chance to be the winner if you pay your rent on or before the 1st of the month. Everyone who pays their rent on or before the 1st of the month gets their name put into the Early Bird Drawing. Out of that pool of entrants a random name is selected and the lucky winner gets $50 off of rent for the following month.
